Heat Recovery Steam Generators

Foster Wheeler has been in the heat recovery steam generation (HRSG) market for more than 80 years. Our heat recovery units reclaim waste energy from process gas, internal combustion engines, gas-turbine exhaust and other sources at power plants, cogeneration facilities, refineries, smelters, and chemical and petrochemical plants. Our units operate with a wide range of auxiliary fuels, such as natural gas, No 2 to No 6 fuel oils, refinery waste gases, and naphtha.

Our HRSG experience encompasses all types of turbines from all major manufacturers and their licensees, including GE, ABB, Siemens Westinghouse and others.

Key features:

  • Fin type and density minimize fouling while maximizing heat-recovering units with auxiliary burners

  • At least one bend in all heat transfer tubes for flexibility

  • Full penetration tube-to-header welds
We installed:
1st HRSG on GE Frame 7E turbine
1st HRSG on GE Frame 7E with duct firing
1st HRSG on GE LM-6000 turbine
1st HRSG on GE LM-6000 with duct firing
1st HRSG on largest IGCC facility
  • Highest quality welds to handle thermal shocks

  • Easy access to components via ample access doors and inspection ports

  • Exceptional capability to increase steam production from minimum to design load
  • Optimum use of available heat through carefully determined approach temperatures and pinch points

  • Outstanding continuous low-load operation facilitated by specially located economizer bypasses

  • Superior cycling performance and ability to withstand abrupt thermal transients

  • Optional capability to run dry if required
