Foster Wheeler invented the first radiant tube crude heater in 1919 and have since developed and sold a large number of crude & vacuum heaters worldwide. We also have considerable experience in providing general process heaters and heaters for catalytic reforming, visbreakers and cokers.
Foster Wheeler own proprietary steam reforming furnace technology, known as Terrace Wall, capable of operating in forced and natural draught modes. We also provide downfired reformers.
In the petrochemical industry we have designed and constructed many ethane, ethylene and ethylene dichloride cracking furnaces, and heaters for paraxylene, benzene and styrene production, worldwide.
Foster Wheeler can provide a variety of solutions to recover heat or reduce fuel costs.
We specialize in Gas Turbine Exhaust recovery to produce steam and superheated steam, recover heat to a hot oil system or to use as combustion air for furnaces.
We provide boilers for the Fluid Catalytic Cracking Units to destroy carbon monoxide and recover the heat from combustion to generate superheated steam. We also provide heat recovery from the flue gases of process heaters.

Foster Wheeler has considerable experience in modularization of very large heaters, by road, rail & ship. Constructability reviews performed on most projects determine that modularization saves on plant down time and reduces site construction manpower. The need for heavy lifting equipment and scaffolding can be eliminated, saving time, space and costs.
